Huge Thanks to Everyone Who Popped Into Our Booth at Garden Music on Thursday May 29!

Thank you for joining us during the Garden Music Series and visiting the Children’s Fantasy Garden pop-up booth. The community explored early design ideas, shared their own ideas, and tried our interactive tools. Families, especially kids, were invited to imagine what the new garden could become. The community submitted drawings, talked with the team, and shared what makes the garden feel special to you.

On Thursday, May 29, our team hosted its first pop-up booth at the season’s kickoff Garden Music series. We hosted a series of tables and exhibits on the lawn near the seating area for the concert of the evening. This served as a great opportunity to engage with community members, many of whom this was their first introduction to the project. We received a ton of wonderful feedback from families and community members!

Throughout the evening the pop-up booth featured three distinct areas: a STEM education tent with feedback boards, a drawing table, and a mapping & modeling table.

STEM Education Tent & Feedback Boards:

The STEM education tent featured several exhibits highlighting STEM careers, and the role of the various professionals involved in the project—including urban planners, landscape architects, structural engineers, and immersive artists. Designed to spark curiosity and career interest, these exhibits tied real-world roles to the garden redesign process.

Interactive feedback boards invited visitors to share what they value about the existing Children’s Fantasy Garden and what they’d like to see improved or added in the redesign.

Drawing Station:

Our drawing station was a place for families to work on our Drawing Kits. These Drawing Kits allow community members to illustrate what they would like to see the Children’s Fantasy Garden look like. These Drawing Kits are one of our core methods of receiving community input during the pre-design phase.

If you can’t attend one of our pop-up events, Drawing Kits are available for download and electronic submission on the website via the Share Your Drawing Kit tab on our website.

Mapping & Modeling Station:

The mapping and modeling station featured a 3-D table-top version of the Children’s Fantasy Garden. Our team provided lots of modeling clay and encouraged community members to build models of features they’d like to see in the redesigned space, as well as lay out where they’d ideally like these new features to appear. This was a great way to get kids involved in our process and have them provide feedback through a fun activity!
